HANOI, Sept. 10 (Chinese media) -- Vietnamese police have detained a 26-year-old South Korean man who killed his Vietnamese girlfriend and burnt her body, local newspaper Saigon Liberation reported Wednesday.
On Sept. 3, after quarreling with Dao Thi Hue, fourth-year student at the Korean Department of the Hanoi University, about her past love, Kim Ki Jong pushed the 21-year-old girl to the ground in a room in Hanoi rented by him, and then strangled her to death.
According to Kim's confession, he put the body in a suitcase, and used gasoline to burn it at a deserted street in the city to destroy the crime's traces. After finding the burnt body and probing into the case, the police have identified Kim as the murderer.
After making friends with Hue in May 2008, Kim hired her to teach him Vietnamese. He has entered Vietnam three times to tour and seek jobs in the country, local newspaper Young People reported Wednesday.
