Thieves found asleep on stolen goods

BEIJING, July 22 (Chinese medianet)-- Two suspected burglars were caught by police while sleeping on stolen goods and have been charged with second-degree burglary, according to media reports.

There was a break-in on July 9 at a Fred Meyer department

Police followed a trail of cardboard boxes, pillows and backpacks from storage containers in a locked area behind the store.

When they found the two suspected burglars, one was curled up on a stolen hammock. The other was dozing on a pile of pillows taken from a storage container.

Police photographed them before waking and arresting the snoozing duo, who didn't hear someone approaching.

"Most people try to cover up what they did," Monroe police spokeswoman Debbie Willis said. "Not these guys. It's almost like Hansel and Gretel, leaving crumbs for us to follow."

"We believe alcohol was involved," Willis said. "I'd say a lot of alcohol was involved."

The two were still being held on bail Monday, and it was not clear whether they had lawyers.

They've been sleeping in the Snohomish County Jail since their July 9 arrest.
